Meet the 6 chefs who will compete to represent Portugal in Chef Balfegó 2024
The 6 chefs from the Portuguese country will compete on June 3 in Porto to be the representative of Portugal in the grand finale of Chef Balfegó 2024.
The winner, in addition to going to the final, will receive a cash prize of €1,000.
If a few weeks ago we presented the Spanish finalists, today it is the turn of our neighbors, Portugal. After the representation last year of Rafael Gomes (Escama – Porto), the Portuguese country faces its second participation in the Chef Balfegó gastronomic contest with 6 exceptional names, 6 chefs who will compete in a high-level semifinal to represent Portugal in this edition of the contest:
Diogo Ribeiro – Vila Vita Parc Resport & Spa (Porches, Lagoa)
João Nunes – The Yeatman** (Vilanova de Gaia, Porto)
João Santana – Brava (Almancil, Loulé)
Oleg Zhyrun – Restaurante Kabuki* (Lisboa)
Rui Silva – Euskalduna Studio* (Porto)
Vitor Gomes – Torel Boutiques (Porto)
The 6 Portuguese chefs will compete in the semi-final on June 3, which will be held at the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto. During the morning, the cooks will have to prepare and present two recipes, one made with Balfegó bluefin tuna loin and another with a part of the tuna of their choice.
Your creation will be evaluated and scored by a renowned jury – which we will announce soon – and the chef who obtains the most points will be the representative of Portugal in the grand final of the VII edition of Chef Balfegó, which will be held on October 28 in Madrid. In addition to the privilege of being able to participate in the final, just for winning the semi-final, the Portuguese representative will receive €1,000 in cash.

In the international final in Madrid, the Portuguese winner will have to face 7 other chefs: the 4 from Spain that we already presented, and the result of the semi-finals in Italy, Germany and the Benelux region.
From this final list will emerge the winner of Chef Balfegó 2024, who in addition to winning the title will receive multiple prizes such as a trip to Japan for 2 people, €6,000 in cash or a blanket of Japanese knives, among others.
