Germany reaches the Chef Balfegó final with Julio Pizarro

Julio Pizarro trained for five years at Le Fondation Le Cordon Bleu in Lima, Peru, and Paris, France, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy and Business Management. His professional career led him to work in some of the best restaurants in the world, including Central in Lina, Hervé Bistro in Lima (two Michelin stars), D.O.M. in Sao Paulo (two Michelin stars), Quique Dacosta in Denia (three Michelin stars), and FAVORITE Parkhotel Mainz (one Michelin star). He is currently head chef and general manager of Pizarro Fine Dining in Groß-Gerau (Germany).
The restaurant Pizarro Fine Dining is located in the municipality and capital city of the district of Groß-Gerau, in the federal state of Hesse.
The chef defines the restaurant as “the only authentic Peruvian restaurant in Germany,” an exclusive space equipped with an outstanding wine cellar containing wines from all over the world, and the only one of its kind to be recommended in the Michelin Guide.
His dishes reflect Peruvian culture fused with the most innovative techniques of haute cuisine. Each ingredient stands out for its pure and distinct flavor, and the choice of the finest quality products is essential for Pizarro, with fish prominently featured in his cuisine.
The Peruvian chef of German nationality relies on Balfegó Bluefin Tuna as one of his star products, which is never missing from his tasting menu.
Following his victory in the German semi-final, the chef will compete in the final of CHEF BALFEGÓ in Madrid on the 28th, at the International Cooking School Le Cordon Bleu, against seven other participants from Spain, Benelux, Portugal, and Germany.
