Balfegó bluefin tuna loin wins the special Health & Nutrition award at the 2022 edition of Seafood Global Expo
Balfegó, a company specialized in bluefin tuna fishing, fish husbandry and marketing has won the special Health & Nutrition award at the 2022 edition of Seafood Global Expo, the world’s largest fair related to seafood, which is being held in Barcelona between the 26th and 28th of this month. Balfegó, competing for this award for the first time, won the award for its red tuna loin, selected by the jury from among the more than 1,000 products from 13 countries that participated.
Balfegó had selected this particular tuna cut because it is the part that most demonstrates the quality, flavor and nutritional value of this fish. One of the competitive advantages of Balfegó is to achieve the optimum point of fat in each specimen, which results in perfect color and balance. Aimed at the best chefs around the world, this product offers numerous nutritional benefits, including high-quality protein, omega-3, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium, and numerous vitamins.
For Juan Serrano, General Manager of Balfegó, this award “reinforces the position of Balfegó bluefin tuna as a nutritional and beneficial product for health, and represents a new accolade for our philosophy of the species, as well as recognition of our work, not only as regards quality, sustainability and health, but also in recognition of our long-standing educational work, awareness and dissemination of the values of tuna. This award encourages us to continue working, researching and promoting new initiatives, always centered on bluefin tuna”.
Along with the Balfegó red tuna loin, among others Pescanova Spain won the prize for Best Retail Product for their salmon noodles, and GlobeXplore France the prize for the Best Horeca (hotel/restaurant/catering) Product for their algae, yuzu and ginger paste.
